Area Description:
The town of Pittsboro is in the Piedmont area of North Carolina - equidistant from the mountains and the sea. Pittsboro is charming, artsy and historic. It's close to Chapel Hill (home of UNC), Raleigh, and Durham - a growing metropolitan area frequently listed as one of the most desirable places to live in the US. The B&B is near downtown, shopping and restaurants.
Site Description: Our property comprises the house and 0.3 acres. There is a large shed, useful for storage, a gravel driveway to an off-street parking area, and a patio bordered by a white picket fence and a perennial garden bed. Along the front are sidewalks and a low stone wall, old maple trees, and an azalea border. Old pecan trees, camellias and dogwoods are planted along the side and back.
Structure: The house was built in 1912 in a Colonial Revival style and is listed on the National Historic Register. It is white frame with a large front porch. All systems (electrical, plumbing, and HVAC) were replaced in 2000, with ongoing improvements since then. There is an innkeeper's efficiency apartment in addition to the five guest rooms, 5.5 baths, laundry room, kitchen, office, and common living and dining rooms.
